Understanding the full picture, or "context," is vital for healthy relationships and a peaceful mind. When we ignore the background details of a situation, we often fall into distorted ways of thinking, like jumping to conclusions, overgeneralising from single events, or only seeing the negative.
To combat this, we need to actively seek context by asking questions like "What else could be true?" and trying to see things from other perspectives. This not only helps us understand others better but also allows for self-compassion by revealing the deeper reasons behind our own behaviours.
